The following groups and projects are currently under the "umbrella" of the Rogers-Hassan Senior Friendship Planning Committee.  All seniors who are 55 or older are welcome to participate in the activities.

The Jammers are a group of retired musicians that come together on the first Sunday afternoon of each month at the Rogers Community Center to play for their own enjoyment and to entertain anyone that wants to attend.   A pot luck supper is shared and is open to all who want to share a dish and/or contribute to cover expenses.

The Senior Newsletter is published the last week of each month for area seniors.  Call
763-428-7657 if you would like a monthly newsletter mailed to you.

The Rogers Area Senior Wellness Group meets every Thursday from 1:30 - 3:00pm usually at Word of Peace Lutheran Church (located at 21705 - 129th Avenue North).  This group helps seniors stay informed and independent by maintaining balance, strength and mobility, to enjoy the company of other seniors, celebrate birthdays, and relaxation.  The group is geared to men and women and there is no charge for participation.  Free blood pressure checks are done the 3rd Thursday of each month, twice monthly programs with information pertinent to seniors, exercises done under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist every week.  This group has been meeting weekly since October of 2006.  It is fun as well as beneficial.  Call 763-428-3418 for more information.

Water aerobics meets at the Hampton Inn on Mondays between 8:00am and 2:00pm.  There is a $2.50 charge for use of the pool, changing room and a towel.

Card Recycling is a fund raising project that recycles donated and used cards for resale along with getting acquainted with local seniors.  No special knowledge or talent is needed, just a desire to help.  The group meets every Monday at the Autumn Trails Senior Housing community room (129th Avenue in Rogers) at 1pm.  Watch the newsletter for further information and dates.  Call Mary Lou at 763-657-1432 or Elsie at 763-428-1131 with any questions.

There is a marked receptacle in the outer entrance for you to drop off any used cards (including holidays and childrens).  Please do not cut cards apart, but do remove any loose notes or pictures that might be left in them.  We appreciate your donations!

The Senior Shop Rogers Bus arrives every Thursday at the Senior Community Living Buildings at 10:00am.  The bus makes a circular route that picks up people who need to pick up groceries, get prescriptions filled, get a haircut, and do a little shopping.  The cost is currently $2 for the rider and $2 is subsidized by the Rogers Lions.  Volunteers are on the bus for assistance.  Questions?  Please contact Judy Hanson at (763) 428-7657.

The Rogers-Hassan Senior Friendship Center is located at 25000 Hassan Parkway at the intersection of Hassan Parkway and Territorial Road.  Currently the building is used for Advisory Commission meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 2:00pm and it is open to all interested residents of both Rogers and Hassan. If you have ideas, requests or suggestions for programs/events please bring them to the Advisory Commission meetings.  If you would like to lead a program or class, bring that to this group as well.

Cards & Games are played at Autumn Trails on the 1st, 3rd & 4th Wednesday of every month from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.  People also meet at teh Rogers Applebee Restaraunt on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.  You can learn to play Mah Jongg and Bridge if enough interest is shown.  There are many activities available at the Center such as a TV for movie watching, you can play the Wii, put jigsaw puzzles together, read, play horseshoes and tend the flower beds.  Watch for picnic plans so we can use the beautiful new grill.

Bingo is played at Autumn Trails on the first Tuesday of every month from 1:00 to 3:00pm.  The amount collected each game is the prize.  We play just for fun.  Participants help out and also take turns bringing refreshments.  Coffee is provided.  Join in the Fun!

Bingo at Cabelas is played every three months at 10:00 AM to noon (April 19, August 16, and November 15) and play Bingo for 25 cents per card (6 maximum).  Cash prize after every game based on the number of players with a "coverall" as the last game played for cash or prize.  You can pick up a coffee or soda on your way into the second floor conference room - refills are free.  Then you can enjoy lunch in Cabela's restaurant and/or shop on your way out.  The "regulars" have a good time - why not give it a try?  This is a fund raiser for the Seniors of Rogers-Hassan organization. Elevators are available.

Denny's Breakfast - Stop by for breakfast and become acquanted with your local seniors.  We meet the 3rd Friday of every month from 9:00am to 10:30am.  Call Elsie at 763-428-1131 or see the Senior newsletter for more details.
