Downtown Rogers Transportation Study

The City of Rogers is engaging in a study to identify transportation improvements to make travel within and through downtown easier. The overall goal is to make downtown a more attractive destination by improving access, which will make it more attractive for investment. Working with WSB & Associates, Inc., the City has identified a range of potential improvements ranging from improved pedestrian crosswalks to entirely new roadways within downtown. Some of the specific improvements that are being considered include the extension of John Deere Lane from Main Street to County Highway 81, which would greatly improve access to the downtown area. Other projects include the the potential realignment 129th Avenue and/or Memorial Drive to create a single intersection with Main Street, thereby creating a better east-west travel connection with County Highway 81. Finally, the study is looking at a longer term improvement project of building a new north-south connecting roadway to link 129th Avenue North with Industrial Boulevard

Main St/Memorial Dr/129th Ave Intersection

Currently the City is working on a solution to address the congestion issues facing the intersection of Main Street with Memorial Drive and 129th Avenue North. This unique intersection, which is off-set due to the presence of a rail line, presents design challenges as well as coordination issues in that many of the possible solutions involve obtaining buy-in from the railroad owner. The City continues to work through these issues and hopes to address the congestion problems at this intersection in the near future.downtown-study-small
