City of Rogers, MN is accepting applications for the position of Engineering Intern. This is a paid intern position at $12/hour. Work is completed in the field in outdoor conditions along with an indoor office environment. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Public Works Superintendent. Interns will have opportunities to practice in the following areas: Information systems (ArcGIS and Cartegraph), Municipal infrastructure design, inspection, and maintenance; Project management and communication, Natural Resources management, Sidewalk pavement inspections, and Traffic counts.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Public Works Superintendent, this position is responsible for assisting with engineering tasks.

Scope of Responsibility:

Work is completed in the field in outdoor conditions with exposure to the elements and in an office setting. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Public Works Superintendent. Interns will have opportunities to practice in the following areas:

  • Information systems (ArcGIS and Cartegraph)
  • Municipal infrastructure design, inspection, and maintenance.
  • Project management and communication
  • Natural Resources management
  • Sidewalk pavement inspections
  • Traffic counts
  • Other duties or responsibilities as apparent, directed, or required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 18
  • Ability to work cooperatively and establish good relations with co-workers, program users, and the public at large.
  • Ability to stay focused and multi-task.
  • Must have valid driver's license with driving record acceptable to the City.
  • Must be a university student, enrolled in good standing in a civil, environmental, or other closely related engineering program.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
  • Preference is given to students with a high GPA, strong interest in water resources, and returning interns in good standing.
