The Department of Homeland Security recently partnered with the Houston Police Department to create a video that clearly defines the options a person has when confronted when a citizen is confronted with an Active Shooter at their place of employment. The intent of this video was to share it with workplaces across America. The Rogers Police Department encourages businesses to share this video with all their employees-it may very well save their lives.
As the first school bell rings, Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) officials are urging motorists to be ready to stop for school buses and be watchful for children exiting school buses and crossing streets.
Last year in Minnesota, there were 615 bus crashes that resulted in one death (no children) and 214 injuries (of which 75 were student bus occupants). In the last five years, crashes involving school buses resulted in 21 traffic deaths of which four were school bus student occupants and three were children who were outside a bus and hit by other vehicles.

Tailgating, unsafe passing, running lights and weaving in and out of traffic are typical traits of aggressivedrivers that can turn roads deadly. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) are providing tips for motorists when confronted by an aggressive driver following a statewide July speed enforcement campaign.

The Rogers Police Department has been experiencing a high level of false alarm responses this summer. Businesses and homeowners should be reminded that the City of Rogers does have a false alarm ordinance which assesses a fee to the property owner for false alarms.

Rogers Police has received notices of multiple thefts of copper wire from area businesses and outside light poles. Please notify 911 if you see suspicious activity near any transformer, electric junction box or electrical panel.
