There's a free mobile tool available to provide a place electronically to store photos and vital information about your child so that is available whenever you need it. The application stores pictures, provides physical identifiers such as weight and height so it can be quickly shown to a police officer.

Visit the FBI website, http://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2011/august/child_080511, for more information.

Remember to talk to your child about safety at an early age. Children should know the following:

  • Parents first and last name
  • Their home address
  • How and when to call 911
  • What to do if they are lost
